Bio
Hailey is a free-lance creative from Chicago. She attended DePaul University, where she received bachelor degrees in Studio Art and Peace and Conflict Studies. Hailey’s technical and conceptual studies of artistic methodology and foundation of right relationship with oneself and the world around them as a peacemaker has empowered her to document her experience in the 21st century through experimentation in the art-making process and continuous play between subject, form, and color.
What makes her work different is how deeply personal and intimate her art-making process is. In her recent large-scale pieces, she challenges color relationships and paint application in rather unconventional ways. She uses music for inspiration and her body, through orchestrated movements of her arms, legs, fingers, etc., to lay down something on the canvas best described as a symphony of color. This serves as a background for her various muses, where she only then begins to pick up a paintbrush. This process has allowed her to suspend all expectations and surrender completely to the spontaneity of how these colors lay and interact with each other. Her work stems from a desire to let go of expectations and understand how the interaction of color and subject can create moods that people can resonate with.
She is currently based in Los Angeles.
